MEMOIRS OF JAPAN by Gino C. Matibag, MD PhD

Excerpt of Chapter 1

Leaving My Country

The 4-hour Japan Airlines flight from Manila to Tokyo was uneventful. An hour after I arrived at the airport, I suddenly realized that I left my reading glasses in the bus. I told the Japanese usher about it. Using his mobile phone, he talked to somebody at the other end. I lost hope that I would get it back, or if it were to be returned, probably I will receive it in Sapporo City. To my surprise, about half an hour later, my glasses were in my hands. I could not believe such honesty and efficiency. This thing would be a very rare occurrence in my country. I was impressed.
